Senegal GGGWeek 2018: High Level Political Dialogue on Challenges and Opportunities

November 27, 2018 – Political validation of the national Green Growth Strategy and Road Map.

The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) and the Government of Senegal are organizing the National Green Growth Week in Senegal (Global Green Growth Week – GGGWeek) from 26 to 29 November 2018 under the theme: ” Unleashing the potential of Green Growth in Senegal “.

This edition has welcomed participation of the high authorities, the Directorates and Government Agencies, the private sector, the opinion leaders, as well as the authorities of Non-Governmental and Interstate Organizations.

The Senegal GGGWeek is a forum for exchanging and sharing among the stakeholders on past, current and future experiences and initiatives on green growth. It is also an opportunity to confront climate finance organizations to stakeholders, through interactive exchange and training sessions on the mechanisms and access to funds. This session provided an insight into the GGGI mission, among ongoing projects and the prospects. All this will be done through presentations and interventions of experts from Senegal and other countries.

The official launching was chaired by the General secretary of the Environment and Sustainable Development Ministry, in the presence of the Chief of Staff of the Minister in charge of the Emerging Senegal Plan, the Coordinator of the Directorate General of Economic Policy Planning of Minister of Economy, Finance and Planning, and the South Korea Ambassador.

The launch was marked by a high-level political dialogue on green growth that took place between representatives of sector ministries and participants.

Following the presentation of the strategy and the roadmap, the sectorals have presented the challenges and opportunities for green growth. This has been the subject of political dialogues.

As a result of this dialogue, the national strategy and the roadmap have been politically validated.

Recommandations have been made for its implementation.
