First High-level Forum on E-mobility Sparks Collaboration for Sustainable Transport in Jordan

Amman, Jordan, November 22, 2023 – The Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Energy & Mineral Resources, Ministry of Transport teamed up with GGGI Jordan, UNIDO, and Jordan Engineers Association, for the organization of the First High-level Forum on E-mobility in Jordan. The event established a platform to discuss the challenges hindering the broader adoption of electric mobility in the country and to catalyze thought leadership and action towards sustainable transport solutions.

The Jordanian 2022 Economic Modernization Vision emphasizes the role of the transport sector in achieving national social and economic growth objectives. The transition to modern, inclusive, and clean transport technologies aligns with this vision, contributing to economic growth, job creation, and environmental sustainability. The High-level Forum on E-mobility, a part of the “Integrated adoption of electric mobility in Jordan” project funded by the Global Environment Facility, is a significant step towards realizing this vision.

This is the first edition of the Forum which serves to enhance public-private cooperation, and foster interdisciplinary collaboration among government, businesses, academia, and civil society. It is also an opportunity to facilitate the exchange of challenges, global best practices, and lessons learned in the e-mobility sector, build stakeholder capacity, raise awareness, and provide political support for the implementation of the national e-mobility strategy.

At the High-level Forum, the Jordanian Engineers Association conducted a comprehensive training session on “EV Infrastructure Design and Regulations,” equipping participants with essential knowledge and skills to contribute effectively to the development, implementation, and regulations of electric vehicles infrastructure. This training aimed to enhance participants’ expertise, towards a more informed and capable community poised to drive sustainable e-mobility solutions in Jordan.
