CONSULTATION WORKSHOP ON THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A GREEN BUILDING MINIMUM COMPLIANCE SYSTEM IN COTE D’IVOIRE

Cote d’Ivoire – July 28, 2023, was held a consultation workshop on the establishment of a green building minimum compliance system in Cote d’Ivoire at the BnB Resort, in Cocody Angre, Abidjan. This workshop is organized under GCF Readiness Program Support for the Establishment of a National Green Building and Infrastructure Financing Vehicle, Development of Green Building Minimum Compliance System, and DAE Application in Côte d’Ivoire”. One of project’s component aims to develop a green building minimum compliance system to help the country to benefit from the unused potential of construction and building sector to mitigate climate change impacts.

The main objective of this workshop was to consult stakeholders on the implementation of a minimum compliance system for green buildings. More specifically, it was to:

  • present the report on the gap analysis of the various national building policies,
  • set up groups to work on situational analysis on green buildings in Côte d’Ivoire through a questionnaire,
  • present the next steps.

Dr. Alain Serge Kouadio, GGGI’s Senior program officer delivered a welcome’s speech to the participants, followed by opening remarks from the representatives of the Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development, Dr. Gbocho. After the group photo, GGGI team, Dr. Aman and Mr.  Arrabhatu, made two presentations on the readiness project and the report on gaps in national building documents respectively. After the coffee break, Mr. Conrad Sanama from IFC also made a presentation of the report on the green building market in Côte d’Ivoire. The different groups work was established, and each group answered a set of questions and presented their results followed by exchanges.

The GGGI’s Country Representatives, Mrs. Olola VIEYRA, gave the final words where she thanked the participants for their mobilization to this workshop and encouraged the stakeholders to keep getting involved during this process.
