Capacity Development for Development Planners in East Kalimantan to Support the Accelerations of SDGs

Strong understanding and capacity of planning staff are essential in formulating indicators of regional development goals, determining regional development targets, and linking provincial and district/city plans. In addition, it ensures the formulation of regional development plans is aligned with the national policies and supports the acceleration of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievements and localizing NDC targets.

To enhance the capacity of development planning staff, GGGI supported the Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) of East Kalimantan Province, to held a Training on Introduction and Deepening of Regional Development Goals Indicators on January 27-28, 2022, in Balikpapan.

Resource persons from the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas and the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of East Kalimantan presented sustainable regional development planning, regional macro achievement indicators, development planning methods using the Dynamic System Model. In addition, the participants studied the compilation of data and practiced techniques for calculating regional development goals indicators. This capacity development was conducted in preparation for designing the next period of the East Kalimantan Medium Term Development Plan (RPJMD) and the 2026-2046 East Kalimantan Regional Long Term Development Plan (RPJPD).

GGGI Indonesia supports the national and subnational governments, particularly the East Kalimantan Provincial Government, by developing capacity and providing technical support in preparing the 2019-2023 East Kalimantan RPJMD document.
