David Fernandez

David Fernandez is GGGI´s Guyana Country Representative, he is based in Georgetown (Guyana) and is responsible for leading the design and implementation of Guyana´s program.

Previously David worked for one year as a Senior Renewable Energy Engineer Consultant for GGGI in Guyana, he worked in the Urban Solar Energy Program which aimed to expand renewable energy through private sector participation in the solar market, and he developed a pipeline of rooftop solar PV projects in commercial and industrial companies.

 

David, a Spaniard who holds a Licentiate in Mining Engineering with a specialization in Energy, has extensive knowledge throughout different sectors and energy technologies, which stem from his 17 years of work experience as a technical and project manager in eight countries (Spain, Portugal, UK, Nepal, Bangladesh, Kenya, Somaliland, and Guyana). He worked for private and non-profit organizations, designing and implementing renewable energy and energy efficiency systems. David started his career working as a design engineer in energy efficiency and solar thermal projects for new buildings in Spain. He later moved to England where he worked as a project manager in the on-site generation department at E.ON, he managed MWs cogeneration and biomass systems in industrial companies. With a great passion for his field of work, in 2015, David moved to Nepal as a volunteer to work in Renewable World, a charity that aims to tackle poverty using renewable energy. What started off as a few months of volunteering become 2 years of work in solar projects for rural development in Bangladesh and Kenya. Then, in 2017, he started to work as an energy consultant for organizations that focus on economic development through clean energy.
