Twelfth Meeting of the Management and Program Sub-Committee (MPSC12) held as a Hybrid Meeting

Seoul, Republic of Korea, July 9, 2020 – GGGI held its Twelfth Meeting of the Management and Program Sub-Committee (MPSC) at the Institute’s Seoul headquarters. The meeting was held as a hybrid in-person and virtual meeting (“hybrid meeting”) chaired by Mr. Peter Elder, Director of Economic Growth and Sustainability Division, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Australia. The hybrid meeting was attended by MPSC Members of Australia, Republic of Korea, Paraguay, Rwanda, and Mr. Ariyaratne Hewage (Non-State Actor Member of the Council), as well as observers from Angola, Costa Rica, Denmark, Fiji, Norway (Audit Contact Point), and Sri Lanka.

MPSC12 was preceded by a week of e-consultations on July 1-8, 2020, which allowed fruitful discussions on the key agenda items: Work Program and Budget 2021-2022 (Part 1), Membership, Accession, and Country Programming, Findings and Lessons from Recent Evaluations, Accountability and Safeguards Systems, and Update on Outreach to North Korea, for all of which the Institute had sought feedback and comments from MPSC Members.

In connection with the e-consultations, the hybrid meeting included presentations and discussions on the Update on 2020 Operational Budget, Work Program and Budget 2021-2022 (Part 2), Update on Risk Management, Update on Upcoming Governance Organ Elections, and the Green Innovation Fund, where Members actively engaged in discussions on the organization’s future directions. MPSC Members expressed positive views towards the Institute’s strategic thinking for addressing the COVID-19 pandemic.

Members took note that the Ninth Session of the Assembly and Thirteenth Session of the Council (Joint Session) will take place as a combination of e-consultations (October 12-23) and hybrid meeting (October 28) in Seoul, Korea.
