Norbert Mass

Norbert Maass is the Country Representative for GGGI in Fiji, Kiribati, Tonga, and Vanuatu. In this role, Norbert leads the respective country teams and their strategic program development and implementation to drive national development goals and impactful climate action initiatives. His role includes cultivating strong and collaborative relationships with Member country governments in the Pacific region to advance green growth agendas.

Norbert has more than 10 years of experience in designing and leading projects in multi-disciplinary teams. He currently focuses on areas of green cities, renewable energy, sustainable transport, and nature-based solutions.

Norbert joined GGGI in 2012 as an intern at the Ethiopia country program. He has worked for GGGI ever since. Prior to taking up his position as Country Representative, Norbert was the Deputy Country Representative for GGGI in Indonesia. In this role, he supported a team of ca. 70 staff and consultants working with the Government of Indonesia to implement solutions to green growth and climate change challenges.

Norbert also worked for GGGI as liaison to the GCF in Songdo, Republic of Korea, to support closer collaboration between both organizations, and as capacity building and project officer in the UAE and Jordan.

Before joining GGGI, Norbert was a Junior Consultant for the GIZ in Mongolia.

Norbert is motivated by GGGI’s mission to leave a positive impact on the lives of the people we work for. Throughout his time at GGGI he has worked with great colleagues and valued GGGI’s culture to innovate and try new things. He enjoys sports and outdoor activities and likes to read history books.
