The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) is the co-founder and co-chair of the Green Growth Knowledge Partnership (GGKP) Gender Expert Group (GEG). The GEG is a consortium of organizations leading actions and catalyzing collective action towards collective action for the just and green transition. Members of the Gender Expert Group including the GGGI, GGKP and IIED launched a report to support integration to provide an overview of existing knowledge and strategies that aim to ensure no one is left behind during the energy transition. It examines challenges and opportunities for gender-just interventions supporting the energy transition. Best practice examples highlight the role of various actors and how they have effectively worked together to design and implement gender-transformative actions.

The widely used just transition concept lacks clear definitions of outcomes, especially when considering the energy transition. There is a need to better identify requisite levels of policy and financial innovations to address gender-just energy transition gaps within current systems. This working paper proposes a Gender-Just Energy Transition Outcomes Framework, which identifies impact areas for gender equality along the value chain and aims to provide sectoral guidance for practitioners and policymakers to assess, identify and implement gender equality outcomes in energy transition initiatives. Through the provision of action points for gender equality, the Framework aims to raise the level of ambition and financing for transformative impact in the transition to low-carbon and inclusive societies.
