Qatar’s Prime Minister Participates in Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week

HE Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor Al Thani took part in the inauguration of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) which kicked off on Tuesday alongside the World Future Energy Summit 2013, International Water Summit 2013 and the International Renewable Energy Conference 2013 (ADIREC).

Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week was opened by Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The opening ceremony was attended UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

The three-day events, Hosted by Abu Dhabi’s renewable energy company (Masdar) will gather an estimated 30,000 policy makers, thought leaders, private sector experts and scientific scholars from more than 150 countries to take part in a series of high-level discussions, panels and events that advance the deployment of renewable energy and clean technology solutions. Among the attendees are President of France Francois Hollande, President of Argentina Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner and President of Mauritania Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz.

ADSW will include five integrated events: the third general assembly of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA); the sixth World Future Energy Summit; the International Renewable Energy Conference; the International Water Summit; and the fifth Zayed Future Energy Prize Awards Ceremony. Other events also taking place during ADSW include the first energy ministerial of South American and Arab countries (ASPA) and the Global Green Growth Institute Council meeting.
