El Salvador to Join GGGI as 47th Member

Seoul, Republic of Korea – August 29, 2023 – The Republic of El Salvador submitted its Instrument of Accession to become the 47th Member of the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI). This marks a significant milestone in the partnership between El Salvador and GGGI, reflecting their shared commitment to fostering economic growth that is both environmentally sustainable and socially inclusive.

The Ambassador of El Salvador to Korea, H. E. Jaime López Badía, established that “El Salvador looks forward to strengthening its partnership with GGGI and its members, with whom we share ideals, goals and the commitment to a better and greener future. The deposit of the Accession Instrument, reinforces our Government’s comprehensive development strategy which aims to achieve the well-being of our population, while contributing to a more sustainable world.”

“GGGI provides its Member States from emerging economies with access to technical assistance that will assist with their acceleration of green transformation. GGGI welcomes El Salvador as its newest member and hopes to avail its support as the country transitions its economy to a green growth model,” Dr. Frank Rijsberman, Director General of GGGI noted.

El Salvador stands as the tenth member to join GGGI from the Latin America and Caribbean Region, alongside Colombia, Costa Rica, Organizations of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), Ecuador, Guyana, Mexico, Nicaragua, Paraguay, and Peru.
