[Media Advisory] Asia-Pacific Forestry Week 2019: Forests for Peace and Well-being

This year’s “Asia-Pacific Forestry Week: Forests for Peace and Well-being,” will take place on June 17-21, in Incheon, Korea. The event is being supported by GGGI and hosted by the Korea Forest Service (KFS) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). 

The Asia-Pacific Forestry Week (APFW) 2019 aims to increase knowledge on forest management and create a dialogue on forestry to include environmental, societal, and sustainable development aspects. The Week will bring together forestry practitioners across the Asia-Pacific to collaborate and discuss the critical issues that the forestry sector currently faces. 

Mr. Ban Ki-Moon, President and Chair of GGGI, will give a keynote speech at the opening plenary ceremony and at the Asia Pacific Forestry Commission (APFC). GGGI will be co-hosting a session with the Korea Forest Service, Sustainable Forest Business Talks, during which business models and their benefits and lessons learned will be presented.  

GGGI will also be leading the session titled, Tropical Peatlands and Green Growth, to share the results of a background study conducted by GGGI and feature the successfully tested tools and technologies for planning and implementing the peatland restoration in Indonesia.
