Green Bag Seminar with Ambassador Boonam Shin, Former Climate Change Ambassador at GGGI HQ

On April 11, Ambassador Boonam Shin was invited as a speaker for the Green Bag Seminar to share his insights and experience working at GGGI during its transition to an inter-governmental, international organization from 2011 to 2012. During the Green Bag Seminar held at GGGI’s Seoul headquarters, Ambassador Shin discussed the history of GGGI and gave interesting examples of episodes experienced during the transition period. Ambassador Shin played a pivotal role in the process of converting GGGI into an international organization. Countries that have contributed to the conversion process included Kiribati, Denmark, and the Republic of Korea.

Ambassador Shin recognized that GGGI has outperformed in the field of green growth over the recent years and the organization should continue to build strong collaborative relationships with key stakeholders in both the public and private sectors, representatives of international organizations, and government officials. In particular, he emphasized the importance of mobilizing financial resources and implementing bankable projects in collaboration with potential donors and contributing countries such as France, the Netherlands, and Sweden. Participants shared ideas and key perspectives on how GGGI should continue to evolve to achieve outstanding targets in the future.

The Green Bag Seminar was attended by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, GGGI colleagues in both HQ and country offices.
