GGGI holds the Friends of GGGI Luncheon event in Seoul

On June 11, GGGI held the Friends of GGGI Luncheon event in Seoul, inviting more than 60 members of the diplomatic corps, including Ambassadors in Seoul to share its recent updates and success stories in GGGI’s Member countries. Mr. Ban Ki-moon, GGGI’s Chair & President delivered a video message during the event followed by a presentation by Frank Rijsberman, Director-General of GGGI. Sei-joong Kwon, Director General, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Republic of Korea and Thomas Lehmann, Ambassador of Denmark to the Republic of Korea gave congratulatory remarks during the event.

In a video message, President & Chair Mr. Ban highlighted some of GGGI’s success stories, including how the organization helped countries catalyze over USD 1 billion in green and climate finance over the course of its Work Program and Budget 2017-2018.

During the presentation, Dr. Frank Rijsberman gave an update on GGGI’s Membership as well as its impactful green growth results in 2018 achieved through innovative partnerships that support developing countries and emerging economies transition toward environmentally sustainable and socially inclusive economic growth.

“GGGI strongly believes that multi-stakeholder partnerships are critical to addressing climate change and environmental degradation, driving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and meeting NDC commitments,” said Dr. Frank Rijsberman, Director-General of GGGI.  “The transition to a model of economic growth that is green can only be accomplished through strong, innovative, and catalytic partnerships.”
