GGGI at Cop15 on desertification

Cote d’Ivoire is hosting the Fifteen’s Conference of the parties (COP) from the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, a major conference to address the future of Land management, from May 9 to May 20. The main challenge around “Land. Life. Legacy: From Scarcity to Prosperity,” is a call to action to ensure that land, the planet’s lifeline, continues to benefit to current and future generations.

Leaders from governments, private sector, civil society, and other important stakeholders from around the world will gather at COP15 to push for progress on the long-term sustainable management of one of our most valuable resources: land.

COPs are opportunities for the Global Green Growth Institute to contribute to the global conversation on climate action, including fight against land degradation and agriculture of the future. It is an opportunity to build and nurture partnerships, and support Member countries and partners to exchange lessons and experiences on climate smart agriculture, sustainable energy pathway, climate finance instruments, green and resilient recovery, and nature-based solutions.

GGGI will be present during COP15 through side events or joint events in collaboration with partners to speak about Innovative finance for private sector to support sustainable landscape, Climate smart Agriculture and Women in Africa or Inclusive and climate change resilient development in Sahel through low carbon transition and agroforestry as well as launch of its latest joint-publication on Green Growth assessment report in partnership with AfDB.
