GGGI and Silk Road Fund Sign MOU to partner on green BRI investments

Boao, People’s Republic of China – March 28, 2024- The Global Green Growth Institute and Silk Road Fund signed a Memorandum of Understanding to partner on joint development of green BRI investment projects. GGGI’s Director General Rijsberman and Chairwoman of SRF ZHU Jun signed the agreement at the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) where they are participating in sessions to explore how to green BRI, making use of China’s leadership in green technology development and China’s investments in developing and emerging economies.

GGGI’s Director General Frank RIJSBERMAN highlighted the need of GGGI’s Member States for investments from Chinese financial institutions such as SRF. He said: “At BFA, GGGI and ministers of three of our Member States presented investment opportunities, we hope to see future investments of SRF in these projects, targeting a greener BRI.”

SRF is a medium to long-term development and investment fund, with a mandate to provide funding and financing support for cross-border trade and economic cooperation under the framework of the “Belt and Road” Initiative introduced by China to promote its collaboration and connectivity with countries participating in the “Belt and Road” Initiative.
