GGGI and Chamber of Commerce Karakalpakstan Sign MoU for Sustainable Agri-business

Karakalpakstan, Uzbekistan [June 27, 2023] – The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) and Karakalpakstan Republic Department of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan(QR SSP) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the Development of the Aral Sea Region.

QR SSP is a non-government non-profit organization that provides services to business entities and provides a favorable legal, economic, and social environment for the implementation of entrepreneurial initiatives. The event was attended by the Heads of the regional Chamber of Commerce offices in Takhiyatash, Khojeyli, Kegeyli as well as Nukus Rayon.

Mr. Khojamurat Kaipnazarov, the Head of Department of the Chamber of Commerce, expressed QR SSP’s commitment to building sustainable and resilient businesses in Karakalpakstan. He lauded GGGI for its Business Development Platform “JasilAwil”, which provides access to advisory services, market price information and innovative ideas for local agri-business owners. Dr. Aaron Russell, GGGI Uzbekistan Country Representative, thanked the team of the Chamber of Commerce for their dedication to enhancing the business landscape.

The partnership between GGGI and QR SSP is set to focus on green investment mobilization, encompassing the promotion of green and climate-smart agriculture-related businesses; the joint development and implementation of training programs for “green” and “climate-smart” agriculture-related businesses, and the scaling up of GGGI’s pilot green business models.

GGGI is enthusiastic about the collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce in promoting its digital Business Development Platform (BDP), as it has a lot of growth potential. The platform is currently available as an app, JasilAwil, and as a website, GreenAral. GGGI looks forward to incorporating QR SSP’s expertise on government incentives for farmers into the platform.

The joint efforts between QR SSP and GGGI will empower agri-businesses across Karakalpakstan to flourish and invest in sustainable measures and technologies, ensuring the prosperity of the region and contributing to a greener and more resilient future.
