In celebration of International Women’s Day 2022, GGGI Caribbean in collaboration with OECS Commission will be hosting a virtual ‘Women in Green Innovation” event on Wednesday 6 April 2022.
The United Nations theme for International Women’s Day (IWD 2022) is, “Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow”, recognizing the contribution of women and girls around the world, who are leading the charge on climate action, to build a more sustainable future for all.
What do we mean by women in green innovation?
Essentially, we’re talking about women entrepreneurs with sustainable businesses aimed at solving environmental and/or social issues with creative practices. Green innovation in the Caribbean is more than developing new ideas, technologies, or products, it also includes harnessing old or traditional ideas in new ways. This includes re-introducing traditional, cultural, and indigenous ways of thinking into various industries and/or business models.
This event will be led by women green entrepreneurs from around the Caribbean. The event will create a space for current and aspiring women green entrepreneurs to share their stories, discuss challenges and how they overcame them, and connect with other women.
In addition to receiving this valuable knowledge, participants will also benefit from:
- Inspiration to develop ideas for current and aspiring women green entrepreneurs
- Insight and practical tips to help participants on their green entrepreneurship journey
- Networking and relationship building
Together, we want to break the bias and work towards potentially amplifying participants’ collective impact on climate action throughout the Caribbean.
