Rabat/Morocco, May 26, 2023.

During a kick-off workshop held in the presence of key stakeholders , the Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development and the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) launched a study related to the “Estimation of Implementation Costs and Financial Flow Design for a Policy Approach in Morocco,” in particular, Law 40.19 on renewable energies and Law 82.21 on self-generation. This study will be carried out to select eligible projects requiring additional funding, improve their profitability and provide recommendations for a carbon price. Subsequently, the study will propose a revenue distribution scheme to ensure a fair distribution of the benefits generated by these projects in the context of international transactions under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement. The consortium, made up of the BETs Enviro Consulting International (ECI) and Perspective Climate Group, will carry out this study in close consultation with various stakeholders from the public and private sectors.
