Suva, Fiji – The Global Green Growth Institute today released the Guide to Green Entrepreneurship in Fiji. The guide is designed to support local entrepreneurs in developing and launching green businesses in Fiji to help in achieving Fiji’s climate change and renewable energy targets and meet adaptation needs.
The Guide to Green Entrepreneurship in Fiji is based on the content that was included in GGGI’s “Jumpstart Your Green Business” workshop, held in Suva last September, and focuses on helping people create new businesses that that address environmental or social issues as a core part of their business model.
The guide is aimed at supporting new or early stage entrepreneurs in clarifying their business concepts and giving them the tools they need to get their new company off the ground. It includes an overview of green entrepreneurship, a discussion of the key sustainability issues in Fiji and how they apply to businesses, steps to developing a basic business model, a listing of the specific steps to register and start a company in Fiji, and links to additional resources specific to Fiji. It also contains interactive exercises, links to relevant videos and online resources, and examples of existing green businesses in Fiji and across the Pacific.
“This guide is an important milestone for the support of green entrepreneurship and green jobs in Fiji. It provides specific information – a detailed checklist on the requirements for starting a business and the associated costs – all in one place. Having this information will make it easier and faster for green entrepreneurs to take care of the administrative side of opening a company and give them more time to focus on making their business successful and impactful” said Kristin Deason, GGGI’s Senior Pacific Officer.

This guide and workshop are part of GGGI’s global Greenpreneurs program.
