GGGI Colombia participated in the signing of the beef and dairy Zero Deforestation Agreements

May 6, 2019, Bogotá, Colombia – GGGI sealed its commitment to the sustainability of livestock and forest conservation with its adhesion to the Zero Deforestation agreements for beef and dairy value chains, together with the Ministries of Environment and Agriculture, the Sustainable Livestock Board of Colombia with its 45 members, private companies, restaurants and environmental organizations.

GGGI has fulfilled a leadership role since 2016 in the accompaniment to the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development (MADS), in this process that derives from the commitments of the Joint Declaration of Intent (DCI), and together with the palm oil, cocoa and forestry chains, complete five agreements with agricultural chains of this nature established in Colombia.

This milestone lays the foundation to advance in the implementation of actions that consolidate more sustainable and deforestation-free agricultural
chains, whose challenges involve working in policy conditions, financing reconversion, traceability, market development and other actions that allow comply this commitment to zero deforestation for the year 2025. These are the challenges with which GGGI has committed and will continue to work in the future.
