Seoul, Republic of Korea, 24 April 2026 — The Government of the Republic of Zambia (GRZ), today signed a Host Country Agreement (HCA) with the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), marking a step forward to strengthen collaboration in accelerating inclusive and sustainable green growth. The signing ceremony took place on the margins of the GGGI Spring Annual Meeting, taking place in Seoul, Republic of South Korea. The GRZ was represented by H.E. Andrew Banda, Ambassador of the Republic of Zambia to the Republic of Korea, and accompanied by First Secretary Ms. Anastasia Muuka, while GGGI was represented by its Executive Director, Mr. Sanghyup Kim.

The agreement formalizes GGGI’s legal status in Zambia and reaffirms the parties’ shared commitment to advancing climate action and inclusive green growth in Zambia. It further strengthens the institutional framework for collaboration, supporting the Government of Zambia to deliver its climate and green growth priorities, including implementation of its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).

“Through our partnership with GGGI, we will continue strengthening our capacity to deliver transformative solutions that advance inclusive, sustainable economic growth while protecting our environment for future generations.” — H.E. Andrew Banda, Ambassador of the Republic of Zambia to the Republic of Korea noted.

“GGGI recognizes that advancing Zambia’s climate priorities is essential to building an inclusive, sustainable economy. This partnership is an opportunity to accelerate green growth, deliver country-led solutions, and support Zambia’s transition to a low-carbon economy.” — said Mr. Sanghyup Kim, GGGI’s Executive Director,

Since 2022, GGGI has been working in close collaboration with Zambia, which became a Member State in July 2023. Since then, GGGI has worked with government counterparts across multiple ministries and agencies to support initiatives including the National Green Growth Index, the National Green Growth Strategycarbon markets under Article 6, operationalization of an integrated Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (iMRV) system, capacity building, and the recent establishment of the Climate Finance Unit.

The HCA will enable the Government of Zambia and GGGI to strengthen joint planning and implementation of green growth initiatives and further enhance Zambia’s ability to mobilize climate and green finance.

GGGI Zambia is hosted by the Ministry of Green Economy and Environment.
