The Global Green Growth Institute and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development sign Memorandum of Understanding to Strengthen Cooperation on Climate Action

London, United Kingdom, February 6, 2026 – Today, the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation on green growth and climate action. The agreement establishes a platform for closer collaboration to support countries as they pursue economic development pathways that are competitive, resilient, and aligned with long-term climate goals.
Under the MoU, GGGI and EBRD will collaborate on identifying priority areas for joint engagement, bringing together policy support, capacity building, technical assistance, and investment-related activities to advance synergies in project development The partnership will focus on selected climate and sustainability themes and will explore opportunities to support country-led initiatives and market-based approaches, with initial areas of focus including methane emissions reduction, carbon markets, and climate-smart agrifood systems.
This partnership provides a framework for non-exclusive collaboration, beginning with exploratory engagement across a range of regions and sectors, with the potential expand to additional countries through future joint initiatives. Building on their complementary mandates, GGGI and EBRD will seek to strengthen project preparation, policy reform, and investment readiness in support of sustainable economic transitions.

This landmark agreement is aligned with GGGI’s Strategy 2030 and the EBRD’s Green Economy Transition 2030 Strategy, reinforcing both institutions’ commitments to scaling up climate finance, strengthening climate resilience, and supporting inclusive, sustainable growth in developing and emerging economies.
