Rowan Fraser is Country Representative for Indonesia at the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI). Rowan is an urban environmental specialist with 14 years of experience advising city and national governments on urban sustainability, decarbonization, and climate investment with a focus on the solid waste, wastewater, transport, and urban resilience sectors.
Rowan is committed to further strengthening and growing GGGI’s portfolio in Indonesia. He is focused on ensuring GGGI’s programming aligns with the strategic priorities of the Government of Indonesia while supporting transformative change across various sectors.
Prior to joining GGGI in Indonesia, Rowan was the Country Representative for GGGI in Lao PDR. There, Rowan led a fourfold expansion of GGGI’s advisory services and technical assistance to in-country partners and structured a range of new climate investments for bilateral partners. Prior to this, Rowan served as GGGI’s Country Representative in Nepal (2018-2021).
Rowan has worked in countries across Asia and Europe and has held positions with the United Nations, UN Habitat, Oxfam, and the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center, as well as the Government of France and the Government of New Zealand.
He holds a Master’s degree in Regional and Urban Policy from Sciences Po Paris and a Master’s in Architecture from the University of Auckland. He is a New Zealand national.
