Pablo Martínez

Country Representative for Uganda, Zambia, and Angola

Pablo Martínez is the Country Representative for the Uganda, Zambia, and Angola country programs. He supports national and subnational governments in adopting an inclusive, low-carbon growth model by providing direct technical and strategic support and by finding synergies with the private sector, civil society, and other implementing partners. An engineer by training, Pablo enjoys working at the intersection of science, technology, strategy, economics, and green finance to develop evidence-based, practical approaches suitable for the contexts where they are applied. With over 15 years of academic and professional experience in sustainability, Pablo has been involved in technology development, policymaking, and the creation of financial instruments. In his more than 10 years at GGGI, he has supported the implementation of projects in various areas, including climate change, green cities, sustainable landscapes, energy, and green finance. Prior to his most recent appointment, Pablo was Country Representative for GGGI in Colombia from 2021-2024 and for Mexico from 2017-2021. He also held positions as Senior Associate at McKinsey & Company and Project Engineer at Prolec-General Electric. Pablo holds mechanical engineering degrees from Imperial College, UK (PhD), Cornell University, USA (Master), and from Tecnológico de Monterrey, Mexico (B.S.). His PhD focused on powertrain modelling for hybrid vehicles.
