Norbert Maass is the Country Representative for GGGI in Fiji, Kiribati, and Tuvalu. In this role, Norbert leads the respective country teams and their strategic program development and implementation to drive national development goals and impactful climate action initiatives.
Norbert began his career at GGGI in 2012 as an intern within the Ethiopia country program and has remained with the organization since. Before assuming his current role as Country Representative, he served as the Deputy Country Representative for GGGI in Indonesia. In this position, he supported a team of approximately 70 staff and consultants, working with the Government of Indonesia to develop policies and attract investments that promote green growth solutions, particularly in energy, e-mobility, and forestry.
Norbert has also worked for GGGI as a liaison to the Green Climate Fund in Songdo, Republic of Korea, fostering closer collaboration between the two organizations. He also served as a project officer in the UAE and Jordan.
Prior to joining GGGI, Norbert worked as a Junior Consultant for the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) in Mongolia.
Norbert is driven by GGGI’s mission to positively impact people’s lives. Throughout his time at GGGI, he has valued the organization’s culture to innovate and try new ideas. He enjoys sports, outdoor activities, and reading history books.
