Muhammad Ali Shaikh is the Country Representative for Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands at the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI). With over 25 years of experience in civil and environmental engineering, project management, and sustainable development, he has led and implemented infrastructure and development projects across Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Uganda, South Korea, Pakistan, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, and South Sudan. His expertise spans water supply, wastewater management, solid waste management, climate change adaptation, and sustainable development. Throughout his career, Muhammad Ali Shaikh has managed multidisciplinary teams, secured significant funding, and engaged with stakeholders at all levels to deliver impactful and sustainable solutions. He has overseen projects funded by major international donors, including the Asian Development Bank, European Union, and Green Climate Fund, ensuring compliance with rigorous standards and driving successful project outcomes.
A strategic leader with a strong background in resource mobilization, procurement, contract management, and capacity building, he has designed and implemented innovative infrastructure solutions, led comprehensive monitoring and evaluation efforts, and fostered strong partnerships with government agencies, private sector stakeholders, and local communities. His ability to navigate complex challenges, align project outcomes with organizational goals, and enhance long-term resilience makes him a key contributor to advancing green growth and sustainable infrastructure development. Muhammad Ali Shaikh holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET), Pakistan, and an MSc in Water and Environmental Engineering from the University of Surrey, UK.
