Meirini Sutjahjo (also written “Sucahyo”), or Rini for short, is a long-time player in management, communications, journalism and public relations as well as in marine and terrestrial conservation with over 20 years of experience across many industries including tourism, event management, and IT, among others. She has studied, lived and worked in the U.S. and New Zealand, as well as in rural and metropolitan Indonesia.
Before joining GGGI, she was the Communication Coordinator at Rikolto Indonesia, an NGO that enables smallholder farmers to take up their role in rural poverty alleviation and to contribute to feeding a growing world population in a sustainable way. She also served as the Communication Advisor and as a member of the Board of Directors of the Borneo Orangutan Survival (BOS) Foundation, an Indonesian NGO dedicated to the conservation of Bornean orangutans and their habitat in collaboration with local governments, communities and global partners. Additionally, she was in journalism for 12 years and was the Editor-in-Chief of TMP Group Media, in charge of two magazines—TAMASYA and Journey Indonesia.
In her personal life, she’s a mother of two grown-up daughters—one lives in Oslo, Norway and the other stays closer to mom, living in Jakarta. Rini loves traveling, especially when it involves most water sports including swimming, snorkeling, diving and whitewater rafting. She also loves good books, good wine and good friends to hangout with.
