Meihaar Josiano Marsaoly

Meihaar Josiano Marsaoly, or Ozzy, is GGGI Indonesia’s West Papua Provincial Representative, based in Manokwari – West Papua, Indonesia. Ozzy is a national private sector engagement specialist and an international micro-enterprise development specialist, with 19 years of experience in project management and financial management, working with agricultural/agroforestry communities, natural resource management, renewable energy, microenterprises, agribusiness, sustainable livelihood, supply chain, local value chain development, Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) with timber – palm oil – mining concessions and associations (GAPKI/APHI/GAPKINDO-APKARINDO), Chamber of Commerce (KADINDA), university(s), Forest Management Units (FMU), commercial banks, Central Bank of Indonesia (BI), Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Energy (EBTKE), and Ministry of Trade in Indonesia in relation to poverty reduction and food security, livelihood and economic development, capacity enhancement, as well as climate issues (REDD+) and MRV.

Ozzy also has experience with economics and the drivers of change, Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), Climate Change Adaptation & Mitigations (CCAM), microfinance and financial development, business development services and working with communities in South-East and South Asia including Indonesia and Bangladesh. He has held progressively senior management roles since 2008, and spent the last 15 years in Sumatera, Sulawesi, Java, Maluku, NTT and Central-South Kalimantan regions. He has many years of experience with donors, such as USAID –OFDA, OTI/OCPR, USDA, UNDP, EC, NZAID, World Bank, Chevron Global Fund, International Rescue Committee (IRC), CIDA, SDC, SECO, Cordaid Netherland, Ford Foundation, and MFAT NZ.

Ozzy holds a bachelor degree of Economics (financial management and accounting) from Pattimura University and a post-graduate degree from the Microenterprise Development Institute (MDI) of Southern New Hampshire University, USA, as well as professional certifications in financial analysis. Outside of work, Ozzy enjoys travelling, snorkeling, swimming, and beach volley. He also serves as a free consultant to support local micro-finance institutions and local banks on financial analysis and delinquency management.
