Mark Gibson is Principal, Policy Solutions (Land Use) in the Sustainable Landscapes thematic area within GGGI’s Investment and Policy Solutions Division. Mark collaborates with country and headquarters’ teams to originate and develop agribusiness and agroforestry projects, advancing technology and policy solutions which reflect country needs, drive investment and contribute to GGGI’s strategic objectives. He provides content-based advice to country programmes related to production, processing, distribution of agroforestry and agribusiness products and commodities, value chain development and upgrading strategies, improved access to extension, as well as financial, inputs and outputs markets.
Mark has worked for trading companies and banks, as well as undertaken assignments for development partners, in Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa. His focus has been on building climate resilience into, and initiating, developing and producing business cases for projects along, agricultural value chains, including the production, processing, storage and trade of produce.
His professional qualifications include Corporate Finance Representative (Financial Services Authority, England) and PRINCE2® Project Management – Foundation and Practitioner. He holds a BA (Hons.) in Economics and Geography, School of Oriental and African Studies and a MSc in Agricultural Development Economics, University of Reading.
