Mallé Fofana

Deputy Executive Director and Head of the Directorate for Green Growth Implementation (DGGI)

Dr. Mallé Fofana is the Deputy Executive Director and Head of the Directorate for Green Growth Implementation (DGGI) at the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI). 

Mallé has more than 22 years of professional experience in the development and private sector in resource mobilization, project development and implementation. Since joining GGGI in 2018, he has held several senior leadership roles, including Regional Director for Africa and subsequently Regional Director for Asia, where he oversaw the expansion and delivery of our country programs across two of our highly dynamic regions through their Green Growth Transition from policy to investment by working with the governments, private sector, financial windows, MDBs, and impact investors.

Prior to joining the GGGI, Mallé worked for management consulting firms as managing director, focusing on development issues in Africa, Europe and USA defining, leading, and implementing a range of economic and social development initiatives throughout the continent. He has participated in 100+ projects across (in 30+ countries) various key sectors, working with the largest donors as well as the private sector.

In this role, one of Mallé ‘s key achievements was to orchestrate a development partner’s approach that raised a combined USD 8.5B for partners countries. In 2023, Mallé was recognized as Outstanding Leadership for Economic Development Organization of the Year, CEO TODAY MAGAZINE. He holds a MSc in Management, an MBA in International Development, and a Doctorate in Environmental Organization and Methods Applied from the University of Lyon.
