Jose L Amaya is an Associate of the GGGI Mexico program. Currently, he works with relevant counterparts to build cooperative relationships and establish the organization as an effective partner in the following strategic areas: sub-national green growth planning and implementation, green cities, climate innovation and knowledge sharing.
Jose has over 12 years of professional experience working with international organizations, governments and the private sector in the fields of development, low-carbon infrastructure and project management. Prior to joining GGGI, Jose co-founded an ICT4D start-up delivering mobile technology services to Mexico’s rural population; formerly he served as an associate for Proméxico (Mexico’s trade and investment promotion government office) and as consultant for The World Bank. Earlier in his career, Jose carried out external M&E services for public programs, plus assisted several construction projects achieve low-carbon and green building standards in Mexico and Latin America.
Jose holds a MSc in Development Administration and Planning from University College London (UCL; United Kingdom) and a BSc in Civil Engineering from Tecnológico de Monterrey (Mexico). He speaks Spanish and English fluently.
