Jonathan Catalla

Jonathan S. Catalla is a renewable energy expert, with over 12 years of experience in originating and implementing hydro, solar and wind projects for diverse corporate entities. His expertise encompasses the project management of pre-development and development stages of greenfield renewable energy projects.

As Renewable Energy Officer of GGGI Philippines, Jonathan manages the country office’s renewable energy portfolio, supporting Philippine stakeholders in their energy transition targets. He recently successfully led a sustainable public transport initiative in collaboration with the Provincial Government of Bataan, where GGGI provided policy and technical assistance to enable the investment environment for the transition of traditional jeepneys into modern electric passenger vehicles. He is currently leading an energy efficiency project aimed at supporting MSMEs (micro, small and medium enterprises) in the southern Philippines funded by the BKCF and in cooperation with the Department of Trade and Industry.

Jonathan’s career in the energy sector includes management roles in various renewable energy companies in the Asia-Pacific region as well as the government-owned and controlled corporation PNOC Renewables Corporation.

Jonathan holds a Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical Engineering and a Master of Technology Management from the University of the Philippines Diliman. He also completed an immersive training for climate and energy transformation experts conducted by the Berlin-based clean energy think tank Agora Energiewende in 2021.

Jonathan likes mountain hiking and other outdoor activities. He also enjoys home-cooked meals, especially Filipino cuisine. And he will never say no to ice cream.
