Ian Gunderson

Ian Gunderson is an Analyst in GGGI’s Office of Thought Leadership and is currently based in Seoul, South Korea. He supports the Green Growth Performance Measurement (GGPM) project and the development of GGGI’s Green Growth Index.
Before joining GGGI, Ian was a PhD candidate at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Switzerland conducting research and analysis on Green Economy and Energy Security indicators. He will be continuing his PhD research through his work at GGGI, providing his academic expertise to ensure a scientifically sound and evidence-based Green Growth Index. Prior to pursuing a PhD, Ian has also spent 4 years working in various international organizations in Geneva, Switzerland, including the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), as well as at the Swiss Federal Office of Meteorology and Climatology.
With an interdisciplinary background and technical expertise on climate change, energy and green economy, Ian has supported various data and information monitoring projects focusing on sustainable development, humanitarian aid and weather forecasting. A national of France, Switzerland, and the USA, Ian holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Sciences, a certificate in Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and a Bachelor’s degree in Geography.
