George Asiimwe

George Asiimwe based in the Uganda Country Office is the Senior Officer-Urbanization. George is responsible for leading Uganda’s Urbanization and Green Cities Development work specifically providing technical and policy support; and mobilization of green financing for the green transport systems, physical and urban planning as well as extension of sustainable services such as solid waste management, waste water and fecal sludge management.

George joined GGGI in July 2016 and has worked as consultant and staff. He previously worked with Oxfam’s Liaison Office to the African Union; Oxfam in Uganda; and Coordinated Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) Non-State Actors Coalition in Africa; and Eastern and Southern Africa Small Scale Farmers Forum (ESAFF) Country and Regional Office.

George holds a MPhil in Urban Development and Urban Challenges from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology and Addis Ababa University; and a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Management from Makerere University.
