Galiné Yanon joined the GGGI Burkina Faso country program in the role of Senior Officer MRV Project Coordinator,
In his role, Galiné will be coordinating the Burkina Faso MRV project implementation, work distribution across the team and assists members to balance competing priorities; monitors work progress; provides substantive technical inputs and necessary support.
With an extensive fieldwork experience in more than 15 countries and interaction with various stakeholders, Galiné has a background in climate action, actionable research, communicating science, and multimedia. He has developed several activities on climate change impacts and adaptation in Sub-Saharan Africa, climate finance, climate services, financial instruments for adaptation, agriculture insurance, risk management, and water resources management.
Prior to joining GGGI, he worked as research Scientist at the University of Reading in the United Kingdom and served as the Principal Coordinator of the RainWatch Africa Alliance for Climate Information Services partnership development in 14 countries in Africa. Galiné has also worked as Expert for a World Bank/IFC insurance Project in West Africa.
He holds a PhD (with the highest distinction) from the University Cheikh Anta Diop of Dakar/Senegal for his research on climate change vulnerability and risk management in the Sahel Region.
