Chang Sun Jang is Deputy Director and Lead in Hydrogen and Sustainable Transport at the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI). His work spans policy advisory, resource mobilization, project implementation, and innovation, aligning with GGGI’s strategic goals to support low-carbon, climate-resilient development in its Member states.
At GGGI, Chang Sun has led the development of green hydrogen and sustainable transport projects and built strong partnerships in over 20 countries across Africa, Asia, and Latin America. He collaborates closely with national governments, central banks, and international development partners including those from the UK, EU, France, Canada, and Korea.
Prior to joining GGGI, Chang Sun was a Senior Researcher at the National Institute of Green Technology (NIGT), a government-affiliated institute supporting the UNFCCC’s Technology Mechanism. There, he developed a pipeline of more than 20 climate technology projects in partnership with institutions such as the Green Climate Fund (GCF), multilateral development banks (MDBs), and bilateral agencies. His work covered sectors including renewable energy, energy efficiency, carbon capture and utilization (CCU), water purification, and green transportation.
Earlier in his career, Chang Sun worked in the private sector, where he contributed to national climate policy assessments, the design of sustainable public-private partnership (PPP) models, and the development of carbon reduction strategies for Korean government entities.
He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Energy and Environmental Policy at Korea University. He holds an MSc in Development Administration and Planning, and a BSc in Project Management, both from University College London (UCL).
