Bertha Wakisa Chiudza

Bertha Wakisa Chiudza is the Senior Officer for Gender and Social Development with GGGI. She has over 13 years of experience working in the development and humanitarian sectors with a focus on gender equality, social inclusion, and poverty eradication. Prior to joining GGGI’s HQ in Seoul, Bertha was the Gender Mainstreaming Coordinator for the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) based at its HQ in Denmark. Over the years, Bertha has also worked with a number of institutions, holding various program roles such as Oxfam International, UNFPA, WFP, Plan International and other local CSO’s in Malawi. With Oxfam International, she was appointed as the of co-chair of the Transformative Leadership for Women’s Rights Global working group and in Malawi, together with the country team and local women’s rights groups, she led and facilitated the formulation of a number women’s rights movement groups such as the Ending Violence Against Women and Girls Campaign, Elect Her Campaign (women in political leadership) and the Malawi Women’s Manifesto Movement.
Bertha holds a Master of Arts Degree in Gender and International Development from the Institute of Education, University College of London (UCL). She has undergone various professional trainings in gender in emergencies, human rights and child centered programing, project management, leadership and crisis management.
Bertha is an award winner of the Pan Africa’s Most Influential Women in Business and Government by the CEO Global and Titans: Building Nations, 2019. She was also recognized as a Global Goodwill Ambassador (Humanitarian) in 2019.
