Belén Ojeda

Belén is GGGI Southern Amazon’s Regional Associate, based in Mocoa, Putumayo. She provides support mainly to the environmental authority CORPOAMAZONIA, in coordination with the departmental and municipal governments and through alliances with stakeholders to promote and implement actions towards a green and sustainable development of the region, and contributing to the generation of conditions for face the current challenges of deforestation reduction and the global change.

She has more than 10 years of experience acquired in the public sector at the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development in the formulation of environmental policies, and management of international cooperation projects related to water governance and the sustainable management of natural resources. At the regional and local level, Belén has worked for the NGO Conservation International in the Amazon region, implementing actions for the conservation of the tropical forest and biodiversity, ecological restoration and promoting sustainable productive alternatives for local communities in post-conflict areas.

Belén is geographer from Universidad Nacional in Colombia and has an M.Sc in Landscape Ecology and Nature Conservation from the University of Greifswald in Germany. She speaks Spanish, English, Portuguese and German.
