Aaron Russell

Dr. Aaron Russell has newly been assigned as the GGGI’s Country Representative to Uzbekistan from 2021, after serving as the GGGI’s Country Representative to Myanmar from 2017-2021. 

Aaron holds a Ph.D. in the Human Dimensions of Fisheries and Wildlife Management (Michigan State University), and B.Sc. degrees in Forestry and Wildlife Science and Biology (Virginia Tech). His areas of expertise are in natural resource governance, rural livelihoods, climate change adaptation and wildlife ecology. He has 20 years of experience in research, managing and evaluating projects throughout Africa, SE Asia and other countries, with longer periods working for the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR), the World Fish Center, and as an EU ROM consultant.
