Summit of Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030

On September 23, GGGI took part in the Summit of Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030, organized by P4G. The President of the Republic of Korea, Moon Jae-in gave the announcement that Korea will be the host of the 2020 P4G Summit to support green growth and deliver on the 2030 Global Goals.

President and Chair of GGGI and former Secretary General of the UN, Mr. Ban Ki-moon, delivered a speech during the summit to underline the critical need to collaborate for the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Agreement commitments. He shared “We must achieve the world’s greatest goals, the Sustainable Development Goals and commit to the Paris Climate Agreement. Let’s make the world sustainable and prosperous for future generations”.

Following the event, Assistant Director-General of GGGI, Susanne Pederson, shared that GGGI is looking forward to its future collaboration with the Danish Embassy in Korea, the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the State of Green Denmark on next year’s 2020 P4G Summit in Seoul.

 

NDC Partnership Launch of the Climate Action Enhancement Package

GGGI Director-General, Frank Rijsberman, participated in the NDC Partnership Launch of the Climate Action Enhancement Package event to support the preparation for more ambitious Nationally Determined Contributions. He expressed that GGGI has prioritized support for its member countries’ NDC preparations with its own budget and through CAEP, as an NDC partnership implementing partner.

GGGI is one of the NDC partners who have provided funding and technical assistance to countries to strengthen their NDCs and increase ambitions through updating targets, using improved data and MRV systems, and embedding the NDC in long-term strategies and plans.
