February 8th, 2022 marks the signing ceremony of the Country Planning Framework (CPF) between the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) and the Government of Côte d’Ivoire, represented by the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development. This is a great opportunity to align the global operational priorities of GGGI in Côte d’Ivoire. Therefore, it is hoped that this CPF will provide strategic support to the government of Côte d’Ivoire in achieving their green growth ambitions.
Côte d’Ivoire ratified the Establishment Agreement of the GGGI on July 07th, 2020. This ratification allows the country to benefit from GGGI’s technical assistance for the identification of green investment priorities and the mobilization of additional financial resources necessary for the implementation of climate initiatives.
The five programmatic solutions that will be implemented for the period 2021-2025 are the following:
- Green investments
- Climate action
- Climate resilient agriculture
- Sustainable forests
- Sustainable mobility
The ceremony went well with introductory words from the Chief of Staff of the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, Mr. Kouame KOUASSI, and speeches from Ms. Olola VIEYRA, Country Representative of Cote d’Ivoire, and the Minister himself, Mr. Jean-Luc ASSI.
The country representative of GGGI, Ms. Olola VIEYRA, reaffirmed the continuous support of GGGI to the Government of Côte d’Ivoire through green investment mobilization and the establishment of green growth projects. As for the Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development, Mr. Jean-Luc ASSI, he manifested his gratitude and acknowledged the importance of this signature.
Subsequently, Ms. Olola VIEYRA and Mr. Jean-Luc ASSI proceeded to the signature of the five-year Cooperation Framework between the GGGI and Côte d’Ivoire for the period 2021-2025.
