Republic of Korea and GGGI sign MoU on Green Growth Cooperation worth USD 12.7 million

Seoul, Republic of Korea, September 22, 2025 – The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Green Growth Cooperation. Under this agreement, the Republic of Korea will provide USD 12.7 million as core contributions to GGGI in 2025, enabling the organization to deliver enhanced support to its Member States and accelerate green growth worldwide. The MOU was signed by H.E. Jina Kim, 2nd Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, and Mr. Sang-Hyup Kim, Director-General of GGGI.

“As host country and largest donor, Korea steadfastly supports GGGI’s efforts to address the climate crisis and enable the green transition.”, 2nd Vice Minister Jina Kim stated. “The green transition is not an option; it is our shared responsibility to future generations. No single country can turn the tide, but together, we are an unstoppable current for change,” she added.

“We deeply appreciate the Republic of Korea’s leadership and generosity as host country, founding member, and long-standing champion of green growth. Today’s MOU for Korea’s 2025 core contribution is a strong symbol of trust and commitment, and we look forward to working together to advance a sustainable and inclusive future,” emphasized Director-General Kim.

The Republic of Korea currently supports 21 active projects across all GGGI regions and more than 30 projects through the BIMP-EAGA-ROK Cooperation Fund (BKCF).
