The Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) is a widely recognized tool that incorporates environmental and health factors into decision-making processes. It involves a systematic evaluation of the potential environmental and health impacts of proposed policies, programs and plans and the inclusion of mitigation measures in the program before approval. Additionally, SEA can be used to update programs by incorporating relevant environmental, economic, and social considerations. The present training modules aim to equip relevant stakeholders with proper guidelines to conduct SEAs. The materials contain theory and practical activities to ensure the readers’ comprehensive understanding of the concepts.
These training materials have been produced under GGGI’s ‘Support for the Realization of a Pilot Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) project’ funded by the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) and supported by the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The project aims to evaluate the effects of the tourism master plan in the Charvak region by conducting a pilot Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA). Furthermore, based on the insights gained from the evaluation, guidelines and resources will be provided to assist the Government of Uzbekistan in integrating SEA approaches into policy planning.
