The Country Planning Framework (CPF) is GGGI’s planning document presenting the strategic initiatives that GGGI aims to pursue in partnership with the Government of Mexico (GoM). The CPF is formulated based on the national priorities embodied in key policies, while GGGI’s organizational priorities are anchored in GGGI’s 2030 Strategy.

Mexico’s 2021-25 CPF focuses on five Programmatic Solutions, namely: i) Climate Action; ii) Green Finance and Investments; iii) Sustainable Landscapes/Forests (Land Use); iv) Clean Transport; and v) Waste Management. These solutions have been identified as critical interventions needed to address strategic green growth challenges and opportunities in the country responding to Mexico’s context, challenges and green growth opportunities: i) a USD$126 billion climate finance gap; ii) the need to foster a greener post COVID-19 recovery at subnational levels; iii) the need for greater gender equality and social inclusion and (iv) transport’s significant contribution to Mexico’s updated NDCs.

GGGI acknowledges the input of donors, embassies and cooperation for development partners, the private sector, academia, NGOs and governmental institutions involved in the creation of this strategic document. Nevertheless, three partners in the Federal Government were key to its successful development: the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (SEMARNAT); the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE). Many thanks for your continued support.
