This “Green City” concept provides a framework for tackling urban development issues while promoting environmentally sustainable growth. This approach aims to foster economic development while reducing greenhouse gas emissions and pollution, minimizing waste, promoting the efficient use of natural resources, and preserving biodiversity. To this end, the Green City Action Plan (GCAP) for Vientiane Capital has been developed. This plan outlines a vision for the city’s sustainable development, setting strategic objectives, identifying priority areas, and proposing actions and projects that will guide the city’s green urban development from the approval of the plan through 2030.
