Sustainable landscapes contributes to multiple SDGs, including climate change mitigation, adaptation, and enhancement of biodiversity and ecosystem services.

In 2021, IEU is undertaking an evaluation of GGGI’s Sustainable Landscapes interventions. Sustainable landscapes span 3 of GGGI’s 10 programmatic solutions outlined in Strategy 2030, (1) climate-resilient agriculture; (2) sustainable forestry; and (3) coastal resilience. The evaluation is part of the IEU 2021 Workplan, that was developed in consultation with GGGI’s Management Team and the Council’s Management Program Sub-Committee (MPSC).

The evaluation will provide information on GGGI’s results to date and identify the lessons and opportunities to further improve the delivery and impact of the Institute’s interventions to support transformative green growth and climate action. The evaluation will focus on five countries – Burkina Faso, Colombia, Indonesia, Myanmar, and Peru – between 2017 and 2020.

The Approach Paper defines the evaluation’s objectives and scope, methodology and work plan, and visibility strategy. The content of the Approach Paper follows that stated in GGGI’s Evaluation Rules. The Approach Paper was reviewed by GGGI’s Management and the Evaluation’s Advisory Group, comprised of the Republic of Korea and Peru.

The final Evaluation Report will be completed in 2021 and made publicly available through www.gggi.org.
