Despite the significant progress in Social Forestry through the Ministerial Decree and the number of issued permits, the development of social forestry concessions still faces numerous challenges. These challenges are due to a need for more capacity, funding, and knowledge.

GGGI Indonesia provides technical assistance to encourage social forestry development in its focal province’s areas. This includes mobilizing green investments, developing sustainable business models for Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFPs), and supporting the capacity of Forest Management Units (FMUs) and social forestry business groups. These activities aim to accelerate ecosystem recovery and carbon emission reduction initiatives, simultaneously supporting people’s livelihoods.
