Based on the necessities and national policy goals, the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) and the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MECC) are co-implementing “Strengthening Institutional and Technical Capacity to Support Nationally Determined Contributions Implementation and Mainstreaming Climate Change into Subnational Development Planning in Mongolia“ project between 2021-2025. This project is a long-term project funded by the Green Climate Fund (GCF), and it is part of the activities to support Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) and developing a country-level capacity building within the framework of the Paris Agreement. One of the activities of the project is “The Assessment of Health Institutions’ Preparedness and Health Workers’ Knowledge, Attitude, and Practice in the context of Climate Change”. This research will serve as a resource to contribute to the successful implementation of “The Action Plan on Ensuring Sustainability of the Health Sector in the Post-pandemic Period” and to provide baseline information about the topic.

The goal of the assessment is to evaluate the preparedness level of health workers and health institutions within the topic of climate change’s impact on the health sector. To fulfill the goal, the research team proposed the following objectives:

1. Assess the knowledge, attitude, and practices of health on climate change
2. Assess the health institutions’ services, infrastructure preparedness, and response capacity in the context of climate change.

The assessment comprises two components (1) health workers’ knowledge, attitude and practices of climate change, and (2) health institutions’ services, facility preparedness and response capacity in the context of climate change. The methodology section covers the objectives and methods of each of the components in more detail.
