Project Overview

The Climate Action Enhancement Package (CAEP) is a program of the NDC Partnership (NDCP), designed as a demand-driven and impact-focused initiative to deliver fast support for the enhancement and implementation of the NDCs, with and through broad ownership from society and government.

Since February 2020, GGGI and the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (MoEF) of the Republic of Indonesia are collaborating with NDCP to implement the CAEP project in Indonesia. Indonesia is an NDCP member who was awarded this program with focus on Objective 1 of CAEP to “Enhance NDCs, including by raising ambition, as part of the Paris Agreement’s NDC update process”. In Indonesia, the CAEP project supports the stakeholder engagement activities during the process of updates NDC at the national level and after the updated NDC document has been finalized, this project also helps to socialize the message at the subnational level and to the wider stakeholder.

Under this project, three components are to be completed:

 Series of sub-national consultation and coordination meetings/seminars/ workshops of updated NDC to have commitment in implementing NDC.

 Series of sub-national consultation and coordination meetings/seminars/workshops of updated NDC to have commitment in implementing NDC.

 A massive public campaign to engage all stakeholders in implementing NDC at different level of actions at national, sub-national, private sector, civil society organization, financial institutions, universities, and community level.

During the implementation, this project also broadens its support to enable NDC readiness activities which help to set up key component in implementing the NDC particularly support the development of NDC institution and Non-Party Stakeholder Mechanism.

The target of socialization in the national level are including the sectoral ministries, expert from universities, representative from private sector and CSO. The target of socialization in subnational is the subnational government, representative from civil society, private sectors, and community.

Impact

Indonesia is set to implement its NDC commitments and able to adequately respond to calls for increased ambitions.
