Amman, Jordan – The Ministry of Environment, in collaboration with the Global Green Growth Institute, in partnership with the Jordan River Foundation, and with funding from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), has launched the Green Innovation Hub at the Queen Rania Family and Child Centre in East Amman, under the patronage of the Minister of Environment, Dr. Aiman Solaiman, represented by Dr. Jehad Al-Sawaeer, Advisor to the Minister for Technical and International Affairs, with the aim of empowering youth and promoting sustainable entrepreneurship.
The launch marks a key milestone under the project “Creating Sustainable Green Jobs for Refugees and Host Communities through the Green Economy in Jordan,” aimed at advancing green entrepreneurship in the Kingdom. The Hub provides a dedicated space for innovators and startups to access training, shared workspaces, and technology.
Located within QRFCC, a trusted community platform, the Hub is set to expand access to innovation opportunities in underserved areas. It builds on the success of the Green Business Incubator program, which has supported hundreds of entrepreneurs in developing innovative green solutions.
The event brought together representatives from the Ministry of Environment, KOICA, GGGI, JRF, and participants in the Green Business Incubation Program, showcasing youth-led solutions to environmental challenges.
Dr. Jehad Al-Sawaeer emphasized that this initiative reflects Jordan’s commitment to transitioning toward a sustainable and inclusive green economy driven by innovation and youth empowerment. He noted that the Green Innovation Hub represents a practical step toward transforming environmental challenges into economic opportunities that contribute to job creation and strengthen community resilience, in line with national priorities, the Economic Modernization Vision, and the executive plans for green growth across its six sectors.
Christophe Assicot, GGGI Country Representative in Jordan, added, “This Hub ensures that the momentum we have built through the Green Business Incubator continues. With thousands of applicants and hundreds of supported entrepreneurs, we have seen the strength of Jordan’s green innovation ecosystem. Today, we are creating a space where these ideas can grow, scale, and deliver real environmental and economic impact.”
Ms. Enaam Barrishi, JRF’s Director General, noted, “We believe that sustainability is not an option, but a necessity for empowering communities. This is where the role of JRF comes in—hosting this incubator and ensuring its continuity, not just as a physical space, but as a living model of participatory and sustainable development. This will be achieved by integrating the incubator into our programs and initiatives”.
As part of the Green Business Incubator program, the Hub supports entrepreneurs in building practical, sustainable solutions while addressing the shortage of startup infrastructure in East Amman. It will host training, mentorship, and networking opportunities, as well as events such as hackathons, exhibitions, and community awareness activities.
